Napa Valley-Let the wine flow!
Left San Francisco early this morning to make scheduled tour of
Safari West, where we stayed during our Wine Country stop. I’d say the best part of the safari was
watching the baby animals. Watching the
mother hold and protect her 8-day old monkey was endearing, but watching the
2-week old giraffe on his 1st day out in the large area with the other animals
was a hilarious treat. Raw excitement,
with the perfect mix of awkwardness!
Next stop, winery visits.
We choose Regusci in Yountville because of the property’s Tuscan
influence. We checked out the property
on our own and tasted their wine. Of
course, the boys connected with Katy, our hostess, AND the cabernet sauvignon,
of course! Our other winery pick was
Frog’s Leap, which we all agree was a great decision! We were drawn to it because of it’s fun take
on the business…right down to their saying, “Time’s fun when you’re having
flies”. Very eco-friendly, this vineyard
is the only “dry farmed” winery in the valley.
We took a tour on this stop and our guide, Candace, made it very
informative and fun…maybe because she toted enough bottles to keep everyone’s
glass full??
Ended the day at our tent cabin in Safari West, which has
won some “glamping” awards (glamorous camping).
We had a big group dinner on the property and called it a night. As with more and more nights, our plans to
sit and enjoy some beverage gave way to the realization of exhaustion. Maybe tomorrow?
